Cup of Comfort

A cup of hot British tea equals bliss. :-) I first discovered hot tea when I went on the UK trip last year. We drank a steaming cup all the time-in the crisp mornings, during meals, after meals, before bed, and any time in between. Not only does hot British tea warm you from head to toe, it also soothes your spirit. You are transported to a state of complete ease. On the way home from England, I was already missing having a cup of tea whenever I needed it. When I stepped into my home in St. Louis, I was facing a tealess existence until I remembered...

                                                           The London Tea Room

Mi madre went to the London Tea Room and bought a green tea pot that looks something like this little guy....

We still need to come up with a name for him...ideas would be welcome! :-)  Anyway, my family and I enjoy a cup, or two, or three of hot British tea every day. Who could refuse a steaming cup of comfort?

Oreo Cookies

The oreo-a cookie that has changed the world forever! I personally love oreos. They are extremely fun to eat and have delicious icing!  It is no surprise to anyone that oreos are amazing and great to eat with milk, but one question has been burning in all of our minds..."Who designed this beloved cookie?" The answer is William A. Turnier is the man credited as the cookie's artist.

William was born in Edgewater, N. J., in 1908. As a child he became ill with polio and dropped out of school at the age of sixteen. He became a mail boy in New York City - working alongside his dad, Adelbert. Then in 1923, William made the great decision to work for Nabisco. He worked for the company from1923-1973 as part of the engineering department where he created high-tech cookie cutters called "dies" to stamp patterns. Throughout his career, William also put his imprint on the Milk-Bone and the Nutter Butter. High above a closet door in William's brick house on East Chapel Hill hangs a framed copy of the blueprint for the Oreo's beloved design, unchanged for almost 60 years. In the corner, is the printed name that has earned its recognition in history: "W. A. Turnier."
So whenever you sit back and enjoy an oreo or two, remember William Turnier. He is truly a man worthy of praise for his excellent contribution to our society today.  :D
