Why I Dance

Why do I dance? I have had many friends and family ask me that question, and honestly there are many answers.

(1) I just love it! I have danced since the age of three, and I can't imagine my life without it. It's an amazing feeling to be a part of the music-expressing different emotions and characters through my movements.  Experimenting with different forms of dance is fun as well. Ballet is the foundation of dance, and it is my favorite. I also love lyrical, jazz, tap, modern.

(2) I have developed different values through my training in dance such as discipline, responsibility, and a hard work ethic. Dancers are athletes. What we do is not easy in any way or form. Everything from the way we stand, to our grace, and strength takes a lot of determination and lots and lots of sweat to acheive!

(3) It's always been a dream of mine to be able to dance on pointe! Wow, it's difficult to reach that level, but it is totally worth it! People ask me if it hurts to dance on your toes. Well yes, it does. haha But not as much as you'd think. Honestly as long as you have the right pointe shoes for you, your feet won't start hurting until you get tired or have blisters.

(4) Dance is my escape. Whenever I'm stressed or upset about something, it is wonderful to just go to dance class and concentrate on building my strength, flexibility, and technique.
